HELICOPTERS DRONES SPECIALTY CAMERA

A Long Story Short - Three Decades Behind the Lens I’ve been on the dark side of the lens since 1991. It all began with a regular 8mm video camera, filming friends skateboarding and snowboarding before Hi8 existed. From the streets of Vancouver to being an early pioneer in the Whistler backcountry using snowmobiles and helicopters. Risking it all, learning to get better shots while magnetically drawn to action, slow motion, and nature’s beauty. Traveling with a camera to the remote corners of the world has been payment and a reward in itself. I’ve evolved with my craft from 8mm cassette tapes, 16mm & 35mm film to now working with large format digital cameras with specialty equipment on major film productions. What started as a handheld hobby with gritty fisheye shots has evolved into flying gyrostabilized gimbals on helicopters, drones, armcars and specialty camera systems. Operating everything from 1000mm long lenses to run and gun Steadicam. Executing high energy action sequences where there’s no second take. Every tool I’ve learned over time the hard way through trial & error, blood, sweat and tears. A lifelong obsession with camera gear, tech, and beautiful lenses. I've been flying drones and operating cameras on them since the beginning of it all. Now strapping on some FPV goggles to pilot my own personal fighter jet. The progression of everything has been incredible. As a first generation video game kid, remote control joysticks came naturally. Now using them to steer large format specialty cameras on blockbuster films, commercials, television, documentary and live events. I’ve always thrived under pressure whether it’s capturing the last light, a huge stunt, or documenting an impossible moment that will never happen again with that perfect magical lens flare. Basically, the more you know, the less you know as every chapter opens a new set of rules. Over 30 years later, I’m still obsessed with chasing the light... As we know, the sun waits for no one. Looking forward to what’s next…
